About Benon & Vamposs
Vampino began singing professionally in 2000. In 2001 formed the music group commonly known as Benon and Vamposs which went commercial in 2004 with their first hit “Nsazewo” which put them on the map. Benon and Vamposs is still a duet doing both Dancehall and R’n”B.
The name Vampino.
The name Vampino started all the way in Namasagali Senior Secondary School after he got a suspension from school. He had to go home but instead stayed in school hiding in the dormitories and sealing so that he does not get noticed that he was still in school. When it came to lunch time hours, his friends would bring him lunch. They would not call him by name they would just say that they are taking food to the vampire because he would only come out at night. His suspension took a long time so, the name stuck and came to the city and was called Vampire.
Before he was known as ELDIE from the name Elvis but it just died out. He later made an adjustment and moved it from the evil side and made it Vamposs, now he is called Vampino and he plans to keep changing the name till it ends up somewhere Gospel.
Going Solo
The solo projects started when he went alone to US without Benon. They had just done some of their projects, they never released them. They had spent a total of six months apart. Vamposs was carrying on with Benon & Vamposs in the USA while Benon did the same here. Benon decided that both should record solo albums, both building pillars separately and together have a stronger foundation for Benon & Vamposs. Benon comes in the R’N’B side with a bigger name while Vamposs comes from the dancehall side with a bigger name and in the future they will have a heavy name to promote Benon & Vamposs.
Concentrating on their solo careers they have given us hits Vampino has gone ahead to release hits like Love to dance, Kwekunyakunya, Push Push, Tell it and many more. Benon has given us hits like Hope, Ani Yali Amanyi, Olunaku Olupya and many more.
Vampino & Michael Ross joint Album launch.
The show is dubbed “On Fire” will take place on the 24th June and 25th June 2011 at UMA Show Grounds and Jinja Crested Crane Hotel. Both Vampino and Michael Ross are going to be releasing their albums Vampix Xrated and Unstoppable.
Vampino’s album includes songs like Buka Buka, Onzita, Ndongo, Kwekunyakunya, Love to dance. Ghina, Mikokome. Michael Ross’s album includes songs like Clothes off, Dream Gal, Nze Akwagala, Gimme 2nyt and Push Push ft Vampino.
Why a joint launch
There have been so many launches and they all have been offering the same thing, the idea of a dancehall and R’N’B show, the battling is completely new and this is all going to happen live. Both artists have an energetic stage power compared to other artists in the industry and Vampino would like to regard himself as the energy God which he is about to prove. Besides both being energetic artists, they have also been longtime friends clicked.
