Bebe tops PAM Awards. 1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256-782233273)

Last Saturday evening saw Bebe Cool scooping the artist of the year accolade after stiff competition from Jose Chameleon, Bobi Wine and the Goodlyf duo of Moze Radio and Weasel.

He as well took home the album of the year alongside the Reggae accolade which he has scooped for the eighth year running since the inauguration of Pam Awards.

Radio and Weasel won the male category as the Female artist of the year went to Irene Namubiru. Samalie Matovu”s “Omukwano Gunyuma” is the song of the year according to the public and the panel of judges.

With just two years in his solo career, Dancehall sensation Rabadaba beat off Bebe Cool, Ragga Dee and Coco Finger to win the Ragga category amidst wild cheers from the audience.

Navio won both the Video of the year and the Hip Hop category while GNL’s “Kikankane” is the Hip Hop single in this year’s awards. Best new artist is Kenzo, song writer went to Sylva Kyagulanyi whereas Benon of Swangz Avenue took home the best Audio producer.

Chameleon was also among the winners for the day as he scooped both the Afrobeat artist and single for his “Basiima Ogenze” track. Aziz Azion topped the R&B category as “Abakyala Bazira” became the R&B song of the year.

Pastor Bugembe was announced the Gospel artist of the year winner while Judith Babirye’s “Wanjagala” took the single in this respective category. Qwela band, Susan Karunene, Gerald Kiwewa, Dan Mugula, Mesach Semakula, Nameless, Wahu, AY, Lady JD, Alpha are some of the other artists who won awards in various categories.

Bobi Wine, Cindy, Grace Nakimera, Coco Finger, Hilderman are some of the notable musicians who lost out on every category they contended in during the event.  The night saw short performances by the stingers, Matthias Waklukagga, Omulangila Ssuna, Judith Babirye with her Yenze and Wanjagala tracks, Keko, Navio, Coco Finger before Cindy and Irene climaxed their back to back acts.

Despite the poor organization together with the absenteeism of several artists, The Awards were successfully attended and every winner deserved what they got this time round.
