Who is Chameleon?
Chameleon is a self made and his own boss who l work for loyally and the best of me. And Chameleon loves God because he provides everything to him and more so he protects his family.
Tell us about your musical journey?
It was not easy making it and there is nothing free up to today and to me music is a business where l had all my passion and belief that l will make it whatever the obstacle so in 1995 l meant Sharks Fifid ( by then he was the biggest star) who introduced me to the music industry. He so much encouraged me to be more constructive and original and l used perform with him on most of his shows. In 1999 he shifted to London so l had to stand alone that’s when l decided to go Kenya under Ogopa Dj’s to make the first single of mine “Mama Mia”
Why did the Goodlyfe breakaway from the Leone island?
It was because they were too old to be looked after and besides at some point they would want to be independent as a must. It’s like when your parents look after you at some point you have to leave them and live an independent life so that’s what happened.
All those allegations that people say that “you beat them up” are they true for instance the saga between you, Vampino and Goodlyfe?
People do not see how many times Goodlyfe has beaten me emotionally to an extent of pushing me to get a stick and discipline them as their elder or parent. “To spare the child is to spoil the child” so l can’t leave them to get spoilt l have to discipline them.
Rumors have it that you are the best man at Bobi Wine’s weeding despite the differences between yourselves way back?
I have not heard anything about that and why would l be because he has brothers who are can be his best man and besides am not part of the family and even if he asked me to do so l would not take that chance.
Tell us about the Chameleon foundation?
The Chameleon foundation has been in existence for as long as l have been existing. It’s an organization which is funded privately and it helps out people in different categories for example music, sport, carpentry to mention but a few. The pioneers were Radio, Weasel and Changga. So am setting up the main offices in Wakiso and right now am helping an armature boxer Solomon Segawa. Am sending him to America to become a professional boxer.
What do you think of your brother’s career AK-47?
He is very talented and in fact l admire his start l just pray that fame doesn’t shadow his dream and vision.
When and where your album launch is and what should your fans expect on that day?
What do you expect from Africa’s No. 6, a MTV Europe Nominee and a World cup finalist performer, definitely expect craziness and madness at the stage. The shows will take place on the 2nd , 3rd ,4th of September at Hotel Africa for VIP, Collin Hotel and Resort Beach Entebbe respectively.
Do you think of retiring from music?
Good musicians never retire from music unless when their out of music so for me am still around as long as l still exist
What happened to the Bennie Man Video?
It was too expensive approximately $7500 and for a focused man like me l can’t spend all that on a video at least l rather buy a house for my children.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I see myself better than now especially socially and musically.
How do you manage to balance your music and family?
Family came after my music and I’m happy they understood so they see the fruits of my work after are better.
What advise do you give to the upcoming artists?
Beyond good music there is a lot to expect of self respect, better be yourself and think of master pieces than art pieces.
