Elly Wamala dead

The winner of the Lifetime Achievement award, Elly Wamala is dead. This is a blow to the whole music industry in Uganda.

Elly Wamala, 69 died yesterday at Mulago Hospital at 5.00pm. He has been battling with Intestinal Cancer and Diabetes.

Sometime back there were rumors flying around that he had died which was fortunately not true. We were hoping this was a similar situation unfortunately this time they were true. This time the great musician had gone to better place.

He will be sorely missed by the Ugandans at large, but more so the music fraternity who looked upon him as a founding father of contemporary Ugandan Music.

He sang songs like 'Kaama Katono, Nkole Mpakase, Sacramento, Nga Bwekolanga, Ebinyumu Ebyaffe, Boda Boda.'

Elly Wamala will be buried tomorrow at his home in Mugongo, Kyengera.

We pray for the entire family, relatives and friends.
