Dancehall Empress by1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256078-2-233273)

Being unveiled last year, Empress is perhaps the next household name in the music industry going by the success of her two songs which have gone ahead to top charts on most media houses.

Born 22 years ago to Mr. Habimana Henry and Mrs. Munaba Grace of Rukungili District, Tumusiime Joy better known as Empress is the 3rd born of six children with 2 boys and four girls.

She attended Makerere University primary school, Nakasongola army secondary school and is pursuing a media course at Uganda Institute of Business and Media studies.

The hot steps first season finalist through her Dancehall style says too much competition in the industry is stressing because an artist has to always come up with the best to impress the fans.

With “Awete and Empress” already on the airwaves, Tumusiime  attributes her success to UG Records, the company she’s signed to because it helps in financing her videos, studio work, promotions, booking shows, interviews and many more.
“UG Records is the main reason why Empress is where she is today in the music industry. It’s the best Management Company to work with”.  She said.

Being compared to already established artists like Cindy, Bella and Grace, Empress reckons the threat she poses in the industry adding to the several concerts she has performed on alongside artists like Bebe Cool, Chameleon, Juliana, Bobi Wine and, Grace among others.

“Mi Nuh Care bout Juck” was all she said about the beefing tendency in Uganda’s entertainment industry but doesn’t rule out other artists having beef with her.

Having collaborations with established artists like Rabadaba, Fidempa, Coco Finger among others, the “Awete” singer has a vision of taking over the international level.

“Empress and Awette” were her debut singles earlier last year but 2011 promises to be bigger and better for Dancehall sensation Tumusiime Joy better known for her stage name Empress.

The UG Records signed artist has began the New Year in a massive collaboration with Jose Chameleon. The title name of the song is not yet decided but the single is a question and Answer track to be recorded by Hanz at Hanz Tactic studios in Buziga.

Speaking to Musicuganda, Empress couldn’t hide her excitement towards the project saying.
“This is a grand opportunity for me to prove my significance in the music industry. Who wouldn’t want to do a collabo with East Africa’s finest? I’ve always dreamt of this and I believe my time is now.”

Empress is a female Dancehall artist famed for hits like “Tonelaga alongside Mickie Wine and Maro plus “Nakibuka” with Coco Finger which was released towards the end of last year.

Rabadaba, Empress dropped by UG Records by 1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256 782233273).

Soon after opening up Virgin Islands in Bugolobi at the beginning of this year, UG Records management a few days back opened up to us that its no longer in artists management until further notice after dropping both Rabadaba and Empress.
They revealed to us that bar business is a worthy enterprise which yields more profits than artiste management. Besides one of the artiste they were managing had started breaching the contract. “One of the big artistes in our label had started performing on several music gigs without our knowledge and consent. He took our warnings flippant and continued performing. We sacrificed a lot for all the artistes in our record label but we ended up being disappointed.” So we decided to give artiste management a break.” A director at UG Records said.
But one of the dropped artistes claims that they were never informed when the record label was making the drastic decision. “What hurts is that we were never informed when our contracts were terminated. It’s so unprofessional of them.” Said the artiste.
Meanwhile, soon after realizing that he was droped, the “Bwekili” artiste also decided to open up a bar business located just adjacent to crane bank on Kampala road called “Badabara”.
