Etolu Prince: A storm arrives

By Music Uganda Reporter

God's Salvation came to Etolu Prince, a paint Artist-turned-music artiste, on 6 th March 1999 in a Kampala Pentecostal Church office. Thus his music ministry, albeit still in its stage of infancy, was born. To-date, he has composed and lined up for recording over1000 songs. With an average of 8 songs per day, the um total of his songs is expected to rise steadily in days ahead, and I all likelihood is destined to be the largest collection by a single composer for a time in Africa.

However, due to the spiraling cost of music production and limited resources available to him currently, the first batch, shortly due for release, contains only 50 tracks.

His debut song “Agape” is in English with backing from Joan Nabunya, the lead vocalist at Kibuli Miracle Centre, and sums up what his music ministry is venturing out to perform: - generate awareness and inculcate reverence for the one only world and broken-hearted men with Jesus Christ's healing power demonstrated through Love, Salvation, a wealth of other moral and physical endowments, all packaged under the banner of dynamic, pulsating and heart-rending music.

This, as espoused in his local; church, headed by Pastor Gary Skinner, and is the hallmark and credo of Etolu's mission. Prelude to the music career, Prince worked as a freelance artist and sign writer for 17years preceded by a 5year period of service in Uganda Police, a stint in journalism and a radio assembly plant. Of late, he has been painting and sign writing on surfaces. “Now is the turn to paint men's hearts and inscribe Jesus.” Says Etolu Prince.

The setting of Prince's songs is in-depth in variety and fusion, ranging from Traditional all-round Africa melodies, RnB, Hip Hop, Soul Music, Oriental beats, and to the far reaches of yet unclassified style --- indeed a global concoction. Admittedly, in Etolu is an emergent music Dynamite of or times.

Prince has plans afoot to establish a band and recording studio, under an aptly code-named ‘Fire wave', dedicated to churning out Gospel music through the wide-appealing medium, the internet. In the pipeline too are translated versions of some songs, to be availed, superseding releases; that the Sovereign Lord may be known to all for who he truly is:- Love an wisdom in diversification.

Partners to support and promote the aforementioned ministry are welcome.
