Meet Fellipe by Julie Erusa
When I heard his song on Capital FM “Without U”, I didn’t think it was I Ugandan. I immediately sent a text to the DJ in-house and he replied my message saying it was “Phillip” asked Phillip who? He did not reply that, so that left me no choice but to look for his contacts among Dj’s around town. I even bumped into several people claiming to be his manager and had to go though them if I wanted anything to do with “Fellipe”. After a week of searching, I met a gentleman who gave the number without hustling to get it.
Real name: Philip Emuli. He is a first year student at Mukono Christian University pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Developmental Studies. He describes himself as an honest, down to earth, assertive and doesn’t take no for an answer.
Musical Background.
Fellipe started singing in his S.1 when he joined a Christian choir. He later joined a Christian group called Trinitex which split up after some misunderstandings. From S.1 – S.6 he participated in church by leading praise and worship and rallies too. In his S.6 vacation he recorded songs form Merge-In Records for a Japanese family. The family belonged to his producer and here he just did it for the fun of it.
In January, a friend of his wanted a song for his girlfriend who had just given birth. So he wrote and recorded “Without U”. He had never thought of doing music as a career. He was encouraged by his producer Albert to take the song to Radio. So he took it.

About the “Without U”
He wrote the song himself and it consists of four languages; Luganda, English, Ateso and Runyakole. This is all in an aim to capture a bigger crowd and prove to himself and be flexible in any language and produce something nice.
The song depicts a couple so much in love regardless of their financial situation i.e. unconditional love.
