The new First Love Studio
By Paul 'P-Tech' Mwandha
It
was revealed in a previous monthly news letterr circulated by
First Love that they indeed had plans of helping Uganda's
budding talent. Well, it has come to pass that a First Love
studio is now in existence. After just a few months, artists are
streaming in by the minute and music is being churned out at a
supersonic rate.
They have a rather modern digital set up with an Apple G5
computer system, a Mackie studio board, lots of proffessional
studio mics, compressors, modules, processors... the rest is
studio jargon that I wont bother you with. The facility is also
able to record bands and choirs as they have a very large vocal
booth for that purpose.
The list of artists who have recorded there is endless; Maurice
Kirya, Viboyo, Angela Katatumba, Da Langman of Klear Kut, The
Obsessions, Able 4, Dangerman Mosh, Sarah Zawede, just to
mention. All operations are being run by First Love togehter
with their long time friends and music associates Sami K and
Fred Walusimbi. Fred shall run the studio when they go off on
tour to the US this July.
They have very competitive rates as they don't want to scare
away young talented people and Paul of First Love insists that
what matters the most is the talent and dedication of the
artists and the price is a secondary issue; as long as you are
talented, they can work out something reasonable for you. They
too have been through the times when it was hard to find a good
recording studio or get a record deal and want to make things
easy, simple and friendly for Uganda's future stars. They in the
nearer future have plans of transforming the setup into a fully
fledged record label.
The
group feel this studio is their way of giving somthing back to
their fans and the public for all the support that has been
accorded to them over the years.
The studio is situated at a residential house somewhere on the
stretch between Ntinda/Kalinabiri and Kiwatule off the junction
where popular Rhino pub is, you know how bad Kampala is with
addresses.. we will furnish you with a phone number in the near
future for your convenience as soon as we get it.
Uganda cant complain and say we have no studios, so if you have
the talent, what are you waiting for?
Truly yours,
