Priscilla Kalibala

Girl Power 2009

Three fantastic artistes, united by a common love for singing and dancing. Cindy. Bella. Kalibala.  Make a connection. Have fun. Dance all night long. Girl Power!

Girl Power is back! After spending the last three years focusing on their solo careers , Priscillar Kalibala and Bella have once again joined forces to resurrect their popular Girl Power theme for a series of concerts across Uganda, but this time around they have raised the bar by adding Cindy Sanyu to the mix. The three solo artistes have been performing together in towns such as Gulu, Jinja, Mbarara, Masaka, Mbale, Soroti and Entebbe on their current Club Beer sponsored Girl Power tour. And to cement their unity behind this all-female concept, they have recorded a new smash hit entitled, what else, Girl Power. At the end of each evening’s show, all three girls hit the stage together to belt out a satisfying blend of their three musical styles to the sheer delight of the audience. Could there possibly be more? Do the words Infinity Dancers tickle your fancy? Yes, it seems that Girl Power is definitely back in vogue.

We all know that Cindy Sanyu can work with two other girls on the same stage (she was a former member of Blu 3 after all), but Cindy has also been doing just fine on her own thank-you very much. The stylish singer of the smash hit Mbikooye easily commands the attention of enthusiastic crowds which flock to see her perform live. “There definitely is a big difference in the way the audience connects with you when on stage by yourself,” explains the fashionable beauty. “Three girls on stage can connect as an act, but when I sing solo it allows me to reach my fans as a person. There is something very satisfying in that.” We should all be so lucky as to make that connection! With her new hits Ayokyayokya and Mimi Naweewe quickly climbing the charts, now’s the time to polish up your smile and get on down to where Cindy is busy melting hearts!

Cindy

Whether she is singing solo or collaborating with other artistes, it is nothing new to our next Girl Power star, and it shows every time she gets hold of a microphone. Bella (Barbara Ndagire) of Faasi, Bwoba Oli Nange and Dodo fame has worked with fan favourites such as Trishla and Bobi Wine on the way to firmly cementing her reputation as Uganda’s Dancehall Queen,  and she is able to draw on her Paparazzi modelling background to rivet the audience’s attention with a powerful stage presence. Add in some energetic down-beats to go along with her upbeat personality, and it isn’t hard to see why Bella rocks Uganda! “I love performing,“ says the girl with the infectious grin, “and I mean LOVE it. My audience has fun because I have fun. What could be better than that?“ Well, now that you ask us Bella, we don‘t know! Don’t miss your chance to see our very own Dancehall Queen sing her latest smash hit Kikiri on stage live as Bella struts her stuff!

Priscillar Kalibala is no stranger to the big stage either, after all she has performed to huge crowds at Nakivubo Stadium and at the annual Club Silk Street Bash, in addition to singing at most of the popular nightclubs throughout the country. Indeed, it was Kalibala’s success on her previous upcountry ventures that convinced current tour sponsor Club Beer to get behind this year’s Girl Power concept. And Kalibala has an impressive song catalogue worthy of her reputation too. Fan favourites such as Gumikiriza, Mwana Gwe and Dancing now compete for stage time with her more recent chart-busting hits like Boo and Kwaata. And past collaborations with the likes of Qute Kaye or working on the Battle of the Souls soundtrack prove that Priscillar doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight from time to time either. And that spotlight is getting pretty bright these days! So why not give a shout out to your girls and get on down to the Club, where she’ll be dancing, dancing …. EVERYBODY DANCE!

Bella

And as if these three divas aren’t enough, they are joined on stage by the drop-dead gorgeous Infinity Dancers who simply dazzle the crowds with their perfect dance strokes and stunning good looks. If that doesn’t get your blood pumping, nothing will. These girls have been causing heart attacks all over Uganda. Do you think your ticker can handle it? Get on down to the Club for the next Girl Power show and find out for yourself.

They say the stars come out at night, so the next time you haven’t made plans for the evening make sure you don’t miss your chance to bask under three of the brightest lights out there. Hear the music. Feel the beats. Admire the Infinite beauty.
