From London Henry Katamba reloada Uganda

Henry Katamba saw an end to a promising music career almost six years ago when he relocated to London in pursuit of his dream of an international sound. His debut album Tusanyuke (Omutanda Afuunye Omuubeezi) rode on the back of the heat of the royal wedding of the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi 11 of Buganda and Sylvia Nagginda Luswata to become an immense success. The 199 nuptial right saw the title track to the six track album that also features crystal fabulous become an anthem on FM stations. The other five that include Doreen, Mukwano Nkwagala and Quarter ya Love lay promisingly in the shadows.

After six years in London, katamba is ready to revive his career with a follow up to Tusanyuke. Although the music for the second album is ready for release, “he is taking it one step at a time”says his Ugandan promoter Capital FM/Record TV ’s Kevin Masaba. Apart from churning out the audio hits to his fans , the songs are coming out in video formats as well simultaneously. To the artiste, the latter is the weapen that will get him where he wants to be. ”My aim at this stage is to get the people to know me, and realize that iam back on the musical scene” he asserts.Through Video the people get to know me as well as the music.
Ahead of the six track album ,Switch Y’omutima  that he’ll be launching in kampala early next year, he has already released two singles, the title of Cassanova is its give away. He delivers this particular song in clear Luganda a sign that he is still in touch with his roots despite his relocation to London –Katamba asks “players”not to go after other people’s ladies and so spare them heart break.” Although the song was not inspired by anyone in particular, Iam singing about something that I notice all the time and Besides it bothers me”.says the artist. With his smooth voice and danceable beats, the song is one you’ll enjoy listening to.That you heed the message therein is up to the listener.Cassanova is a Joint Production of Sam Kaddume,Vincent Othieno, and Pier one nightspot Dj Danny Love in London.

Tebakyakula is His second effort. These days women don’t Deetoth anymore they ‘rob” with nice fingures and looks. It’s bait…men’s minds get messed up when they see samples of invinting bodies he sings. You could say Tebakyakula is void of emotion for the persona but the praises for booty-licious  bodies and inviting figures is quite prominent. It boasts of a lovely pop sound to it .courtesy of a fast paced bassline  and vocals with an rnb inclination. On a low note however, the chorus occasionally sounds like it does not perfectly fall into place, something that will probably warrant a remix for it to make it the dancehalls. As for Living-room or beach party play, it is your perfect hit. This one was produced by Vincent Othieno at his Topaz studios in Germany.

On both counts, Katamba has lived up to his aim when he released videos along with the songs.Casanova takes on a sailor’s  theme that runs alongside a comic player’s mini-plot as he mixes a number of women. The former features the artiste himself aboard a ship in a navy outfit amidst wiggling women. In Tebakyakula, he lives up to what he sings about with a fair display of scantily dressed women wiggling on gravel. In was shot at a beach in the backdrop of London’s last summer. The target is to shoot videos for all the six songs on the album before the launch next year.Until then he’ll be dropping singles for his fans until the official launch of the album Switch Y’omutima that is tentatively set for early next year in Kampala. For now that folks bach home can only droolat the impressively clear videos that have been causing quite a stir when broadcast on WBS TV.going by the way music fanatics are said to be squinting at the screens to have a better view of katamba in action, one would say katamba is fairing well with his strategy.
