Iryn Namubiru crowned diva artist of the year by 1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256-782233273)

It seems Iryn Namubiru is unstoppable this year going by the Accolades she‘s scooping in the various Awards she’s nominated in. Music Uganda exclusively reports.

After scooping the female artist of the year in the just concluded Pam Awards, Irene ounce again took home the most valuable accolade (female artist of the year) in the Diva’s Awards.

The “Begombeko” artist beat off stiff competition from Diva’s like Cindy, Juliana, Grace, Jackie and Angella Katatumba. However, Iryn wasn’t the only winner because other artists like Samalie Matovu won both the song and new Diva for 2010. Rachael K was also among the big winners as she scooped two awards in best video and special Achievement.

The hip hop category was taken by Becky, Best group went to talent 256 signed HB Toxic, New diva group was taken by city Rock while the Life achievement Award was given to Rachael Senkebejje.

Different from the rest of the Awards, the Diva’s also recognized the wonderful work done by Journalists as three media practitioners took home accolades. Best entertainment writer went to monitor’s Edgar Batte, NBS’s Pandonor Magazine and Record Tv’s Katogo squared it off for Best Tv programme yet the best photographer went to Bukedde’s Mubiru. Juliana this time round didn’t go home empty handed because she is this year’s
R&B artist although

However, the Awards had some mishaps because Irene was given the R&B accolade yet she wasn’t even among the nominees in this category. Iryn later was asked to take back the accolade because Juliana was the eventual winner but all was good because soon after that, she (Iryn) was announced the Afro beat Diva for 2010.

There was also interesting Entertainment from Diva’s like HB Toxic, Magla, Empress, Rachael K, Lillian, Inyange a Rwanda cultural group, Fat M and Maj Gen Elly Tumwine among others.

The event was held at Theatre Labonita and entrance fee was 20 and 50k VIP and was sponsored by WBS, Club Beer, Blu cube, Celebrity models, Hipipo.com, Capital fm, Beat Fm, and Red pepper.
