Jenkins Mukasa on MTV Base Africa

Jenkins Mukasa runs quite a busy schedule because of his work with the BAT (U) Ltd, and catching him amidst this necessitated a few phone calls here and there. When I finally caught up with him the Veteran Reggae recording artist looked fresh spotting a neat white black and brown stripped shirt, dark blue denims and matching trainers.

Playing in his massive double cabin pickup track where a couple of reggae tunes (His favorite). He looks relaxed but however on close scrutiny you can easily tell he’s been working hard on some sort of mission. To me it looks like for Jenkins besides having churned out a string of ear friendly reggae tunes over the years, sky still is the limit for Jenkins as he takes minimal sips of his favorite drink he samples for me some of his latest songs that he says have carefully been produced. ”When you listen you can tell that I took my time to perfect all the patterns in these new songs”.

The other entity to give props to for Jenkins latest effort is none besides Road block records (owned by dancehall maestro Peter Miles) It is road Block records that’s provided today’s much needed urban reggae feel to Jenkins’ new tracks Atenderezebwe(a mellow gospel riddim) and well as another reggae Love Anthem Gwewange(you’re mine). On these the artist solely lends his mellow vocals that will certainly go down well with reggae fanatics the world over. And if receiving constant rotation on the internationally acclaimed MTV base Africa isn’t proof enough of Jenkins worth then what is? His reggae track Guno’mukwano This Love) is the only east African reggae vibe enjoying constant rotation on this African channel.”

There’s still much to do, however so far so good” says Jenkins.” watch out for my new gospel track Atenderezebwe(let’s praise him) due in a fortnight’s time” he continues. Jenkins’s Style is quite infectious thanks to his usually unmistakably catchy hooks that could grip even the none African language speakers. And who said the sound of reggae music isn’t universal?

Jenkins as he’s popularly known goes way back in the 1990’s but not as a solo artist but as part of Black Roots, a Reggae group that conquered the music fraternity during those days. As one person who has seen the music industry grow over time, Jenkins has played a key role in nurturing young talent through various shows he has taken part of especially those concerning the music industry.
