Jonty on the move by “Tha Puzzle”

When you mention the name Jonty perhaps you’ll recall the dude as one of Uganda’s hip-hop pioneers that used to grace a couple of hip-hop shows in the mid-nineties toward the 2000’s. Well Jonty has moved on because of Uganda’s deviating market forces to become a producer as well as recording artist with Kiswahili songs as well as Dancehall tracks to his name. He’s gone through his trials and tribulations like recently he broke up with long time co-host and recording partner Pure Tango over business related differences but that hasn’t hindered the aggressive dude from moving on.

Jonty recently released the afro-dancehall song “Omukwano” as well as the internationally sounding Desire at his own Peak Jam records that doubles as both an audio and visual recording outfit. Music Uganda caught up with the focused artist for a low down;

MU: So Jonty what’s been going on for the first half of your year?
Jonty: Man everything has been hectic. I’ve spent most of the year producing other artists’ works as well as a few of my own. I am also in the process of making myself more visible by recording lots of videos as the industry is dictating today. I’ve already released a video for “Omukwano”. I am in the process of recording the video for Desire that features Woodz and Hyperman.

MU: what challenges have you been facing on your way up the industry?
Jonty: Well, the major challenge has been breaking through for radio airplay.

MU: Any future collaborations?
Jonty: I’ve already talked to Kidfox and hopefully a record will be out sooner than later.

MU: So where can your fans access your music.
Jonty: That’s through DJ Vito at Majestic plaza or call me through +256-782-732885.

MU: Do you plan to keep recording at Peak jam or you’ll try out other studios as well?
Jonty: Or sure I plan to venture into other studios as well because I am a professional you know!

MU: When should we expect a launch from you?
Jonty: Not any time soon. I am still making my brand more visible on the market.

MU: What does Jonty do in his free time?
Jonty: He produces music, writes a lot and keeps performing. I actually love performing.

MU: Favorite hangout?
Jonty: Steak Out and Ground Zero.

MU: Oh by the way where have your videos played?
Jonty: NBS Television, WBS and Record Television. I thank them all.

MU: What projects are you currently working on?
Jonty: I have numerous projects that are only awaiting voicing. I feel like this is my year man! I am also making a lot of hot beats, if one is interested in checking them out, then you can make an order…ha ha.

MU: So how can we contact you then?
Jonty: That’s through my cell number +256-782-732885
