Mary D

Mary D describes herself as an artist, a mother, hardworking and a down to earth lady. She goes by the names Akullo Maria. Mary D sings sad love songs in mainly Luganda. She sings about the lack of love in many marriages.

In her songs, Mary D sings about lack of Love….that is not necessarily what she faces, she is a happily married woman, with a husband who is her biggest music fan and gives supports her all the way and together they have a daughter who is 6 yrs old.  

Mary D began her singing career in the school choir, then she headed off to start Karoake at the former Bingo Cinema back in the day, she later headed off to Texas and Little Flowers.  She would basically go to any place that had a Karaoke and she would get access to a microphone. 

In 2004, she started recording her music. Her first songs were “Ekiloto” and “Omugole”. Then in 2006 and 2007she recorded “Tondebeta” where she featured Toolman with whom they had done Karoake with a Bingo Cinema and “Kikyesikuwa”.
