1 on 1 with Mon MC

Meet Simon Semogere a.k.a “Mon MC, a “Luga-flow artist, Mon MC describes himself as a down to earth person, co-operative and a God-fearing person. He started his musical journey in 1999 after being inspired by Chagga. He released his first single in 2005.  Between 1999 and 2005 he was still looking for the rap style and recording was not easy at the time.

After his first single, Mon got some friends were doing the same type and style of music and formed the New Hope Squad. He believed that the New Hope Squad had the same ideas of doing music….conscious music, music that talks about the problems that the people are facing and going through. Basically he is a rapper inspired by people. The New Hope Squad is under the management of the Bavubuka All Stars under the directorship of Babaluku.

The New Hope Squad

Mon MC has released his latest single “Wechakalile” featuring Babaluku and The New Hope Squad. It contains concrete Luganda lyrics and rhyms. He also worked with the All Stars under the management of Platinum Records on the Hip Hop All Stars song “Why me” but the song was never released.  He has performed on various  Hip hop concerts and Bavubuka charity concerts like; Giving back to the Kids at Mulago, Gulu Charity concerts and many more.

Mon MC would like the native rappers to do their thing in their native language so that the people can understand what they have to say or trying to bring to the table.
