Mr. Hush's Profile
He was born in 1979 November 9th to Abby Noor Kalanda Lubega and Sarah Nalwoga Kalanda. Since both of his parents are Baganda, he took to the originality and nationality; a Muganda born in Uganda. His real name is Kanwagi Rashid Kalanda. He cut short Kanwagi to “Kanie” and reversed Rashid to “Hushedee” which he abbreviates as “Hush” and salute himself as “Mr. Hush”. This is for simplicity considering the complexity of his name which is entangled and twisted. Mr. Hush was inspired by people like Peter Miles and Kristo Fabulous who he refered to as Kristo Clear way back while he was still in St. Lawrence Citizens High School. And more especially Peter Miles encouraged him never to part with music when they performed together on their leavers’ party in Senior Four. His idol is Shaggy and he likes other artists like Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Lexus, Goofy, Mr. Vegas. He so far has one album with eleven tracks. The theme is mainly educating and advising the youth. The title of album is “Hotter than Ever” as chosen and labeled by his Producer “Didi” from the Jam Productions. With hits like “ Bakyala n??ambo, Tucheze, Blaze dem, that gal etc. His view about Ugandan Music is that it is generally good, its improving and sooner or later it will be international. His request to people out there is that, basing on where he has reached and the hurdles he has jumped, he would like to get a sponsor. He is willing to abide with the way you stir Mr. Hush’s destiny i.e. reaching out to the people’s hearts and minds, plus body movements on the dance floor scene.

Mr.
Hush is going up the ranks as one of Uganda's contemporary
dancehall artists. He sounds a lot like Shaggy and was one of
the curtain raisers at his show this year.
