Pato & Aydee

Ngoni Unplugged – By Julie Erusa

To many it’s just another unplugged yet to some it’s just a chance to see what more our artists can offer, something different away from the tracks and the CD performances.  This time round we had the Ngoni – who refer to themselves as musical warriors. Here we got see the vocal qualities and the different musical talents of both these gentlemen

The performances by the Jeckaki Band started at about 8:00 PM thus warming up the crowd for the Ngoni.  Ngoni got on stage at 9:00 PM with Benon of Benon and Vamposs and Prisca formally of Dream Gals who sang the background vocals.  They started off with “Nakupenda” where they featured Buchaman but in this case they had to do it without him. (Away on tour),”Black Yellow Red” where Aydee did his thing on piano and Pato taking the lead “Banacity”, they treated us to a little of maganda (Nandujja missed in action).

Pato introduced “Sunita” as “the song is about an Indian Gal he used to like” and later they followeed their performance with “Digi”.  They were joined by “Baby G” and performed the remix of the song.  The warriors repeated the song this time round they were joined by “Beenie Man” – If you have watched the video the not tall the long guy who dances yes that one came to the dance floor, Vamposs also came and did his thing too.  The digi dancers clad in red costumes just stood on the speakers and started dancing those digi strokes from up there.  This left the crowd shouting and chanting “Digi”.

They later performed “Rose” not known to the many this left many just looking and wondering, “When did they sing that song?”.  Next they sang Mimi na wewe, they performed a ballad just as the crowd was starting to sing along the started “Biguula” the dancers came to biguula – shake for the crowd.  They later performed their latest “The Ten Commandments of Love, Amateka ga lavu gali kumi”.  Lastly they sang “Nasiima Gwe”, they added clips of the Rwandese version.  They closed the off their performance by repeating “black yellow red” and mixed it with “digi”.
