No End Entertainment

One
late morning as I was driving through Kamwokya, I saw this PHAT
yellow conspicuous house that I have always wanted to visit. I
had seen it before and everyone said it was the famous NO END
Records Premises. Since I had some time on my hands, I decided
to go up there and have a closer look.
Lucky for me, Hemdee was at the office. I introduced myself and
he said, 'Oooh, you are the guy from musicuganda.com, ahaa…' I
had never met Hemdee but I had heard a lot about him. He was
rather down-to-earth compared to other Ugandan entrepreneurs in
the music sector. He looked rather exhausted; he and the No End
Crew had been to Nairobi trying to promote their new
pre-releases. It was about midday now and the office was just
opening for business.
"You can come in and have a look, but you will have to take off
your shoes first" who was I to disagree? The degree of
cleanliness in the studio is high and is emphasized right at the
point of entry. You will definitely do good business with these
guys, BUT ensure that you acquire a set of fresh socks before
you set foot there.
One of my main points of interest was the recording studio it's
self. It seems he noticed this. He led me straight to the Boards
of production, which were being captained by Menton Krono at
that time (he was also bare-footed). As I was taking some
pictures in the studio, Christo Fabulous walked in. I was like
"wow! Another Ugandan Artist…" I met Christo and he let me take
his picture as well.
I n
the studio, I saw 'designer' studio equipment names like Mackie,
Planet Phatt and Furman. I saw so many machines and I honestly
don't know what they all do. All I know is they are used to make
music! I asked Krono how many artists had been produced at No
End and he said they were so many! There are so many projects in
the pipeline at the studio, but among the artists they have
produced so far are Halima, Chameleon, Mega Dee, Peter Myles,
Ronnie Kavuma, Alex Mukulu, Dembe Herbert and others.
Anyhow, after I met Christo, I realized that I needed to take a
picture of Hemdee. At that time, he wouldn't let me take one
because his hair was still in a mess (after the Nai trip), but
like the star that he is, he had a couple of pictures, which he
let me have. He also signed one for the musicuganda crew from
the entire No End Crew.
On my way out, I met a couple of other artists and got
acquainted with Brian Marley, lead singer for 'Brian Marley and
The Big Drum'. Basically at No End Records, every time you turn
around, you see an artist. It's like a beehive with so many bees
waiting to make honey, that's the best way to describe this
crib.
We are going to profile as many artists from No End as we can,
but it will take some time because the list is hard to exhaust.
We at musicuganda.com would like to thank Hemdee, Halima and the
entire No End crew for what they are doing for Ugandan Music.
"That's all he wrote folks, now back to the studio"
I'll be back with more great stuff
Yours truly,
