Peter Miles & Menshan Riddim Higher! - By Cleopatra Koheirwe

The only artistes asked to perform at the anti-Poverty concert referred to as P8 in Rostock, Germany from East Africa, Peter Miles and Menshan did not disappoint. The Poverty Eight was a concert in protest against the Group of Eight (G8) which comprises of France, Japan, Canada, Germany, Russia, UK, Italy and USA. The criticisms base on the fact that the G8 are liable for global matters concerning poverty in Africa and developing countries which problems, according to the cause, are not being dealt with fully by the G8.

Peter Miles & Menshan put the crowd into a frenzy with their hot Reggae hits such as “One Time” and their new unreleased (but soon to be) track “World is Rough” which is for the International market. The massive show took place on 7th June 2007 and this Reggae Dancehall duo performed along with other big artistes such as Youssou N’dour, Bono & U2, Reggae Band Seed, and some other bands from Mali, Bangladesh, and Trinidad. ‘When they called me out representing Uganda, the crowd cheered. I think it’s because Out-Here Records (Record label based in Germany) has been doing my promo and playing some of our songs. So they knew of us somehow. We got the crowd chanting “Uganda” and “Africa” as we performed. Our country was well represented and the crowd responded massively to Uganda.” Peter Miles commented. On top of being one of the best acts Peter Miles and Menshan's performance was broadcasted on Prime Time, on the biggest TV Stations in Germany called A.R.D.

I say, Big up dudes for a job well done!! Jah Rastafari!!
