Ras Clan group profile

Ras Clan entertainment started as a rebellion of young African youths against the stereotypes in entertainment by forming a group that would provide a fun and original form of entertainment deeply rooted in the African culture. The main trade of Ras Clan entertainment is reggae music played by DJ's Nesta & Brown with flavor being added by DJ Soul. All of them are Rasta men from Uganda who have been together for more than a decade entertaining and thrilling crowds all over the country. In Uganda and in Africa in general the communities are close-knit units with most individuals related to each other either by blood or as family acquaintances. This tradition is what has helped their communities survive through wars, famine, disease outbreaks and other man-made disasters. They have faced all of these trials and overcome them, by leaning on each other, correcting each other and supporting each other without any questions asked.
The Goals
Their main goal pull all kinds of resources, and focus on changing the perspective of these communities towards the problems. The main channel they chose to use towards achieving these goals is music because it has been very influential in shaping peoples' minds. There are a multitude of issues raised through music domestically and internationally daily and even though the outcome is not always visible to the naked eye, the seeds are planted. They have been greatly influenced by all genres of music but most especially Reggae music, which we call ‘message music' because of its powerful and always inspirational messages.

The first phase of our plan was to play Reggae music to audiences and share the joy and messages with them. So we hit them with the music, after all, “when the music hits you, you feel no pain” – Robert Nesta Marley.
The next phase is to play the music live and send out our own positive messages.
