Meet Robert Ssimbwa

He was born to late Mr. Mutumba and Edisa Nalyeiso of Singo, Masindi district Uganda. At the age of five his aunt who is a techear took him to Busoga region stay with her, Rev Fr Wynand picked interest in him and invited him to stay with him at Kamuli Catholic Parish within a community of boys and girls. Fr. Wynand brought to us a music teacher by de names of Capt. John Mwase who did a directorship of music at the Royal School of music in England. They had music theory lessons and practiced every after school, mostly it was brass band, he started on tambourine, snare drum, and then a French horn.

Few years later Wynand brought in pop instruments, guitars, piano, drums etc. He started learning the piano and playing in church. Ebony Quinto was one of de boys and a medical doctor now, started a pop band Novanex jazz band, Quinto knew alot about pop music and thought me basic rhythms on keyboard. We used to perform on X-Mass, Easter, weddings etc.

After finishing his Senior Four in Kamuli, went to Kampala and joined the Waka Waka band which was playing at Sheraton Hotel as keyboard player he also played with Tony Ssengo and the Bandidaz, he also played with the Light Rays band at Grand Imperial hotel as residential band he also played with Blood Brothers band and lastly the Afrigo band which is Uganda’s biggest and oldest band. Currently I went solo and based in the US and I am soon releasing my first album.

Robert Ssimbwa to Launch

Robert Ssimbwa is a Ugandan musician based in Boston USA. He will be launching his first album on July 3-2011 at the Boston American Legion 295 California st(Newton). The Launch will also feature Zani, Lady C from Hollywood. He is a professional keyboardist, a producer  and has been playing with Bands in Uganda like Waka Waka, Big Five, Tonny Ssengo and de Bandidaz, Blood Brothers etc. He  last played with Afrigo Band as Main keyboardist for about seven years.
In 2007 he moved to USA, where I met fellow Ugandan musicians like Julius Juuko, Spurgion Wamala (son of late Elly Wamala) Roar Bob( who's American)Dach, Lillian Nakiwala, Hawaah Nammanda, and we formed the Touch 'n' Soul band. Currently, the band Is doing well in the. Songs on my album include Okulimilira, Nkwagala, Miziki Africa, Tyabu Tyabu, Mutulumya, Katuuyo and many more
