Roge releases 2nd album
Many will Remember the lanky and Hunky Roger Banya a.k.a Roge’ as the gyrating male dancer in the defunct Shadow’s angels under the man formerly known as the shadow (Now Simply known as Roger Mugisha).
You’ll find it hard to frown at Roge’ right from the first time you meet. He’s an extremely jolly fellow who seldom cracks up and breaks the ice of those around him, music and entertainment seem to come by naturally to him and every now and then you’ll see him dancing to his favorite rhythms or singing along a song he likes. When walking with him on the streets you might just mistake him for Kampala’s mayoral aspirant, this because of the numerous hi’s and hellos he receives from his different fans both male and female. Others stop him to request for a copy of his latest compact disc to which he obliges and sometimes signs autographs for fans. His light skinned complexion and gigantic height are unmistakable and lucidly place him besides the crowd. Besides weaving himself an identity as Uganda’s dancing wizard Roge has also for the past few years been engaged in music recording projects with songs that can as well define his character. He’s well traveled, having done so across East Africa, many of Uganda’s districts, South Africa, Thailand(where he spent two years) and much recently( 2007),Denmark and Sweden. “Man the Ugandans in these Scandinavian countries just used to hear of my music but when they watched me live it was really crazy” explains Roge.” I didn’t know I had a numerous fan base other there until I recently visited. I love them all” he continues.

After successfully launching his first album, ‘Tag of war a few years back, Roge’ is now riding on the beat and success of his latest Album “Engine Enkwate Mu” with the same title as the lead song. The Lead song is a poetic tale about how the Artist has just purchased a car however to later find out that its engine has been tampered with. The reaction and giggles that the crowd seldom give him as he performs this particular song in the different Ugandan nightclubs perhaps will give the reader a clue of where the song is going thanks to Ugandans talents and love to paint different meaning of poetic songs which painting are usually inclined toward male and female relationships. When asked about what they thought about the song they said they thought it was about a man who starts a relationship with a lady only to find out that she has been through numerous relationships and experiences before. However the artist states that the song simply means exactly what the lyrics say whether that’s correct or not I guess the listener is the final judge. The album also has songs such as Nafunye, Njyazala, Akawe, Nikaawe, Tupakase, I’m in Love and Babazie. Most of the songs were recorded in the now and much famous afro-beat style.
Roge’s latest music has been enjoying considerable airplay both on radio and Television stations such as; Super FM, Beat FM, Dembe FM and Record TV which has given him a much needed boost this year in an industry where airplay seems to dictate one’s industry success. While in Thailand the lanky artist took time off to hold lingala dancing classes for the Thai people over there which continued to build him a fan base and seeing him get invited to Hong Kong, Singapore and the Malaysian beach club
New Year new plan.
2008 seems to be a bright one for Roge because not only is he planning numerous world tours, he will also be releasing a record with veteran recording artist Halima Namakula of No-end studios and with Henry Kiwuwa’s (Audio Producer of year) touch doubt is grain that it song will be off the mark. When not recording music you will find Roge’ playing a game of pool or swimming as he cuddles his favorite Nile special brand beer. For the ladies out there searching, look no further because he’s still single cd searching for his queen. Standing at a shoe size of 45 the usually casually dressed Roge’ urges the youth to strictly use condoms if they just cannot control their sexual urges and also shouts out to faces of Ugandan director, Peter Ntende and Nile breweries for the support you give him all the time. You can find Roge’s music at Visa café in the middle of town (Kampala and through www.musicuganda.com. You can reach roge’ through roger_banya@yahoo.com or call 0714537601.
