Sara Zawedde's new hit, You Got My Love

Last year, we were given a taste of what this songstress can do. Everyone was fawning about her voice and making comparisons to Patra, the songstress from the 90s. Her dancehall style and strong vocals all served to push Sara Zawedde up that apex. But then, one can never underestimate the power of marketing; she did not know this fact, probably and after that first splash with Body Talk , there was a sudden quiet and Kampala moved on.

This year, Sara is back and this time, no one will forget her that easily. Her new track, You Got My Love is enjoying a good run on all media and she is rearing to go even farther. It is about love. But it is not just another love song. Sara sounds sincere and one cannot be faulted to think that this is a story of her life.
You Got My Love has not been known more than her other song, Ntambudde , which is being played frequently on Radio Simba and Radio 2, Kaboozi but then, Sara does not think that is a disadvantage. The Ugandan savior, East Africa TV (EATv) has been more than willing to play the video and that has translated into radio play in Uganda .

It is an RnB track, a far cry from Body Talk , which was pure dancehall. She says this was done to catch a wider crowd. It is thought that Uganda will welcome an artiste who is into RnB better. You Got My heart reached its highest point with a No. 2 spot on the EATv chart and that is no mean feat.
Sara has not changed a lot with the success of her song. She says she thought the first song was even better. She believes the whole excitement has been brought on by the power of the video. It is a very well done piece of work which was expensive in its own right. It took three days to shoot but it came out looking like more time was spent on it. The motorbike and the models all had tight schedules but the work was eventually done.

It is a song that almost died at birth. But a lady selector at Capital FM listened to it and told her that if she could make a video for it, it would be a hit. The rest is what we have already seen on our screens and listened to on the radio. The song is soon going to make the Radio One play lists. It is not there yet because of restructuring. All new music is being put on wait.
You Got My Love was recorded at First Love studios by Paul Kim. Sara is all praises for the management at the studio. She is in particular awed by the patience and professionalism they display. The song was taken down, bit by bit and restructure many times and there were times when she could have sworn, she did not want to sing again

She was pushed to her limits at the studio, she believes. Her time there was inspirational and she believes she worked with arguably, the best audio producer in the country on this project. For the two months it took her to satisfy Paul Kimuli, Sara learnt a lot about herself that she didn't know in the first place.
One of the things she discovered is that she wants to try her hand at Jazz. She believes she has the voice and she has even approached none other than the maestro, Moses Matovu. And Matovu has agreed to take her on as his prodigy – something in the line of Tshaka Blackroots Mayanja and K'Angie Mtume on Dark Chocolate, I guess
