Meet Sizza formerly of Firebase by Tha' Puzzle

Meeting Sizza for the very first time you'll have hard pressed not to think he's quite a cheeky character. He excludes a visibly stubborn look and indeed his banter is seldom about joking about this and that. Watch him get to work and you'll realize he moves sort of like on focus. After going through his trials and tribulations that saw him abandon his music career for a year and then later leaving the famous firebase crew where he held post of minister of social affairs, Sizza is now back at it again with his rumbustious club banger Wampamba (literally translated as You held me at ransom...perhaps) that’s causing quite a stir on radio and discotheque dance floors. Music Uganda tracked down the urbanly fashionable recording artist. He talks about his time at the firebase republic and as dating.

Music Uganda: So you were at the Kamwokya based firebase crew. For how long were you there and why did you leave such a solid outfit?
Sizza:  Man I was there for five years and besides I was tired of the group vibe. I wanted to push out a solo career.

MU: What was your working relationship like with your President Bobi Wine?
Sizza: It was great I think he's an inspirational leader. He works hard like a horse too.

MU: Are you trying to say that with the firebase crew people are not bound by contracts. You can walk in and out at anytime.
Sizza: Well maybe now. However, the time I was there we were not bound by contracts .So my moving out was as easy as taking my personal decision.

MU: How many tracks have you recorded so far?
Sizza: I have recorded about eight tracks namely; Aida, Akulimba, Tomalaako, Nsaaba, Dunia, Medley, Koona and now my latest Wampamba.

MU: Speaking of Wampamba, it's quite a vigorous danceable track. What message were you trying to put out on this track?
Sizza: On this song I am trying to assure some lady that she stole my heart. However it’s not a true story, it was just an imaginative message. I only tried to put myself in other guys’ shoes. I am also trying to re-brand myself as a dancehall artist. Iam happy the song is doing well on the scene and I am already starting a small country tour in Masindi on November the twenty second.

MU: What challenges have you faced in the past with your career?
Sizza: Well in Uganda the problem is one might have a good track but receiving radio airplay might as well be a nightmare at times. So many times we resort to searching for funds to pay for airtime just like the song is an advertisement. Also I am lacking a promoter to assist me with issues like making high-class videos that can sell globally so if one is willing to come on board my cause then my heart is open.

MU: Besides music production and recording what does Sizaa do in his free time?
Sizza: For now I am strictly a musician and no more. I play pool too and watch comedy movies.

MU: Are you dating?
Sizza: Nope. I am only searching. I have many friends though.

MU: Well then what type of lady would you settle for?
Sizza: One willing to support me as a recording artist and beauty because I believe her beauty will bring respect to my person and career.

MU: So who's been producing your latest works?
Sizza: An extremely talented guy called Didi.

MU: At what shows have you featured so far?
Sizza: I have featured at the annual street bashes, Utake night themes; MTN,UTL country promotions and many others in the different city clubs.

MU: How can one access your music?
Sizza: Through emailing me on rickyrame@yahoo.com or call me on;
