T-Assets, the hip-hop/R’n’B geniuses by 1544c ssejjombwe. (+256 782233273)
We’ve seen several groups forming and then separating within the shortest time possible take an example of Dream girls, Wafagio and others but there is one amazing trio who have beaten the odds and stuck with each other for more than three years.
T-Assets is a group of three guys comprising Kaley Marvin, Ssozi Ivan and Ahimbisibwe Isaac doing Hip Hop and R$B fused with an African touch.
I caught up with the trio who also happen to be signed to Swangz Avenue and we had a chart about their musical journey and future plans.
When did you join the music industry?
Proffessionaly, it was in 2009 with “Big Daddy” as our breakthrough hit but we used to do underground music like miming and freestyling back then in high school.
Why Hip Hop and R$B in a “Kidandali” conquered industry?
We believe it is through Hip Hop that we can express our feelings with the outside world. Being in the facebbook century, we are the new guys to change this world through Hip Hop and R$B.
How many songs do you guys have?
Already three songs (big daddy, lunch and African bed) have already been released but more others are still in studio including a new joint with one of Uganda’s top dancehall sensation.
You are signed to Swangz Avenue. What does the record label do to boost Your music career?
Being signed to Swangz Avenue, the record label finances both our video and audio production, provides music guidance, manages us and books us interview and shows. Basically everything about our music career in based on Swangz.

How different are you in the music industry?
We are the only artistes in Africa doing Hip Hop and R&B blended with an African touch.
Do you guys have anything you are doing besides music?
Kaley Marvin and Isaac are social workers with Caritas Kampala an NGO company that aides the needy.
What are the key factors you look at when releasing your songs?
Our main aspect is satisfying the audience with the best of lyrical content.
How successful are you in the music industry so far?
Bein signed to the best record label in the region (Swangz Avenue) is our first success. Then working with the best producers in Uganda if not East Africa and the public appreciating the kind of music we are doing.
Who are those producers behind some of your songs?
So far, Benon and Just Jose of Swangz Avenue are behind most of our songs as well as capital KEN of Buzz Audio studios.
What are your future plans let’s say three years from now?
Because no Hip Hop artist has ever perfomed live, We would like to create a trend of playing live hip hop music on instruments.
We would also like to expand the T-assets fraternity to the whole world, not only musically but also charity wise. If all goes as planned, we aim at giving out a helping hand to the needy. If Internaional artists like Madoona, Beyonce can give back to the needy, why not T-assets?

“Anyirira” by the T-assets by 1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256 782233273).
With Hip hop on the increase in Uganda, a group of young boys are taking the game to the next level. The T-Assets have yet again released their fourth song “Anyirira”.
Famed for tracks like “Big Daddy”, “Lunch” and “African Bed” among others, the trio has dancehall sensation Vampino throwing in the chorus on this mega tune that was produced by Benon Mugumbya at Swangz Avenue.“Anyirira” was recorded in English and Luganda giving it a wide perception and it’s a fusion of Hip hop and R&B mixed with an African touch.
The video was also released and it’s getting heavy rotation on Tv’s across the region.
The video is heavy on color, camera angles and lighting with sliding shots also making it appealing. “Anyirira” video is one of the best videos this year and this is also an indication that these guys (Swangz) are taking both audio and video making to the international level. |
