Blu*3 Blu 3
Looks like many groups are going through serious transformations some for the good others for the bad. But the ultimate girls group as many to refer to as “The Ugandan Destiny’s child”, I believe that it is for the good. After various rumors surrounding Cindy’s departure, the remaing members come forward to clear the air and let us know what is really going on and the various changes in the group.
The first change that they made was the name, they removed the star (Blu*3 to Blu 3), because they are all no longer pop stars. They have also recruited a new member to the group to replace Cindy. Blu 3 conducted private auditions and chose Edith Baganda a.k.a Mya a former member of Kombat Dancers and Obsessions thus an experienced stage performer and her singing ability.
Blu 3 has also changed management; it has been taken over by an Entertainment Agent called Talent 256, internationally owned by Ali Allibhai. Talent 256 will handle bookings, tours, administration, marketing, publicity and promotions while Steve Jean handles all music and video production and concert production. Other musicians under this management include; Peter Miles, Michael Ross, Priscilla Kalibala, Grace and Ray C.
Blu 3 is currently working on their brand new 14 track album that is yet to be released in August. It will feature songs in Swahili, English and Swahili.
Below is the new Blu 3 bio
BLU 3 is Uganda’s hottest all-girl group and is made up of Mya Baganda, Jacqui Chandiru and Lillian Mbabazi.
Blu 3 (Black Ladies from Uganda 3) has had a very long and famous history. The group burst onto the music scene after winning the Coca Cola Pop stars contest in Uganda. The judges were so impressed with the girls' vocals blending so well that they compared them to the biggest voices in the industry today.
After the group that was originally made up of Lillian Mbabazi, Jaqui Chandiru and Cinderella Sanyu won the competition, the girls moved to Johannesburg, (South Africa) to work on their debut EP, learning skills in performance, etiquette, stage presence, make-up and all the other things a group needs to make it a success.
A few years into performing together, the group had a sudden split. Where they lost one member- Cinderella Sanyu- but that was not the end of Blu3. The group recruited and trained young and beautiful Mya Baganda and is now again ontop of the charts with their amazing voices and talent.
All the group members are professional songwriters and work together on many of the songs of their albums.
Some of the girls most famous hits include Hitaji, Frisky, Kanchachanche, Strong woman, Burrn, Nsanyuka nawe, Ndiberra nawe, Tomalaako and so many more.
The ‘Hitaji’ single from their debut album of the same name, went to No.1 on every radio and television show in East Africa. The Hitaji video was No.1 on musicuganda.com for 2 months, beating already established Ugandan artists like Chameleon and Bebe Cool.
In July 2005, Blu3 performed their hit song ‘Hitaji’ at the Kenyan Kisima awards where they won two awards for ‘Best video (Hitaji) and ‘Best Artist from Uganda.’
They took home the award for ‘Video of the year’ at the ‘2005 Pearl of Africa Music Awards’ in Uganda where they were also nominated for ‘Best Video (Hitaji),’ ‘Best R&B Artist’ and ‘Best R&B Single (Hitaji).’
They were nominated for ‘Best Album from East Africa’ at the 2005 Kilimanjaro Awards in Tanzania where they moved the crowd with a sizzling performance.
They were nominated for Best group from East Africa at the 2005 Kora All Africa awards in South Africa.
The New Vision Ugandan newspaper awarded The Hitaji album the best full length album of 2005.
MTV Base and BBC Radio played all BLU 3 hits regularly.
Blu3 was the only group to be nominated for the prestigious Channel O Spirit of Africa Awards in South Africa in October 2006.
In February 2007, the feisty trio of Blu3 released their new album, a 17-track masterpiece entitled Burrn, which caused ripples even before it had hit the record stores! The first single, ‘Nsanyuka Nawe,’ a ballad written by Sylver Kyagulanyi and produced by award winning producer Steve Jean, is still sitting comfortably atop the radio charts countrywide. The album featured production by Steve Jean, Henry Kiwuwa, Fabrice and Benon of Benon and Vamposs, and guest artist Hip Hop star Navio and ReeJay from Ghana, among others. The second single from the album, Katika got the whole of East Africa on its feet.
“This is one of the best albums I've yet worked on. There's so much variety on it. You have Hip Hop, Reggae, Pop, R&B, Rock and, even Jazz! We tried to create an album that will be around for years to come and are confident that the girls can do these songs anywhere in the world be it Ghana, Japan, the US or Europe,” words of the infamous Steve Jean.
The Blu3 girls say they were excited to be able to reclaim their throne as Divas Supreme, following up with many amazing performances and lots more to come.
These three very talented young artistes whose music is almost R&B and is sang mostly in Luganda, Swahili and English have been hailed as the Uganda’s (and Africa) version of Destiny's Child.
Currently, the girls have a lot of gigs around Kampala and Africa. 2008 is going to be a very promising year for the amazing trio.

BLU 3, Goodlyfe make it big in Africa by Isaac Ssejjombwe
Ever since Moze Radio, Weasel and Blu 3 recorded where you are, they haven’t looked back because not only has the song topped all radio and TV stations in East Africa, but also becoming the only Ugandan hit to appear on both MTV Africa and MTV Europe countdown and better still to be number two for two consecutive weeks.
The song made its debut on number 9 and steadily moved to number 6, 4 and now number two on the African continent. Where you are is a fusion of RNB and Hip Hop, done at fenon records and its shooting was done in two different places; industrial area and kakira sugar plantation.
Bashir of BADI entertainment who is so far the best video expert in the Ugandan entertainment business was behind the camera for this particular song.
Among other achievement the song has received, many still anticipate that this is going to scoop the best video and best song for this year in the PAM Awards among other awards in the region. Ali Alibhai CEO talent 256 and manager Blu3 promised to make a party at club rouge if the song can make it to number one in these coming weeks. Both groups are under new management Blu 3 having joined Ali under his agency of Talent 256 and Goodlyf breaking away from Leone Island and forming Goodlyf as a means of hiking their music and by the looks of things, sky is the limit for both groups.
Blu 3 - Uganda's International Organization for Migration Ambassadors - By Peter Allen Kigonya
Blu 3 talks about Cindy's departure and their appointment as UN Ambassadors in this MusicUganda.com collaboration.
How does one describe Blu 3 after meeting with them for the first time? If you dare to compare them with the more known American group TLC, Lillian would be T-Boz, Mya would be Chilli and Jacqui would be Lisa Lopez... Left-Eye. That is because Lillian seems more of the spokesperson for the group, while Mya is the most "girly" girl, and Jacqui is definitely cool, perhaps not wild as Left-Eye, but when she speaks she is always cool... Her unique, at least by Ugandan standards, lip ring is perhaps one clue to a wild side of her. But let's try again with Destiny's Child... Lillian would be Beyonce, Jacqui would be Kelly and Mya would be Michelle. Make no mistake... These ladies are all unique in their own way.

Blu 3 release singles
Well…. The singles are out. Blu 3 has been commonly known for their distinct r’n’b style. The each of the girls i.e. Mya, Jackie and Lillian all stepped out and each of them has released singles. (Oh… Mya’s song is still in the oven). A success in any of their solo projects is a Blu 3 success.
Agassi – Jackie Chandiru
The song was written by Jackie Chandiru and produced by Benon at Swangs Ave. Languages: Lugbara and English. I don’t understand most of the song but it’s a love song about a girl who gets dumped, the girl basically doesn’t want to let go or say goodbye and continuously keeps declaring her love for him ... Enjoy
Vitamin – Lillian Mbabazi ft Weasle
This “happy love song” as Lillian prefers to describe it was written by Moses Radio and features Weasle. It was produced by Washington. Languages: Luganda. In this song she tells the guy how much he means to her thus comparing her to medicine…. Vitamin, chloroquine, quinine and so on. This is the kind of song that keeps one on their feet the whole night… Enjoy.
This has completely given us another angle to view the girls from. They and Blu 3 are a true force to reckon.
Ugandans nominated for Tanzania’s Kilimajaro Awards
Artists are still raising the country’s flag in what they do best. Mya releases song
The moment we have all been waiting for has come, Mya has released her single. The song titled “Give me your love” was written by her (Mya) and produced at Crystal Klear. Listening to this song… wow, I was very impressed and very excited (not sure if you can be both at the same time). The song is about love. A lady discovers a guy that she loves but the guy is too shy to express his real emotions and feelings. The song will basically get you to your feet and dance. When it comes to performance, one can only imagine what Mya has in stock for us. Well patience is a virtue.

Lilian releases Kankutwale
Lilian is one vocally gifted lady. After giving birth to her son, Lilian has released a brand new single. The song is a redo of Benon and Vamposs ft Weasle song. It was originally produced by Jose Chameleone at Leone Island. The redo was produced by Benon Mugumbya at Swangz Ave. This song clearly shows us the difference in production. The song is basically about a girl taking her man tired of looking around, she has basically given him her heart and will do everything good thing for him.

Q & A with Jackie Chandiru
Who is Jackie?
She is a quiet and reserved girl but she is very outgoing when you get to know her.
Tell us about your upcoming album?
My Album is called or will be called “To Live and To die” and it will be consisting of 60% Lugbara. I have written most of the tracks on the album, produced and even co-produced some. It will consist of probably the most personal work I have ever done.

“For all time”, Jackie Chandiru ft Sammie by 1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256-782233273)
Stretching her wings as a solo artist is certainly her main goal; for what possible reason could she have to team up with an eritrean artist called Sammie!
Jackie formerly of Blu 3 has proved to be a master of collaborations because tracks like “gwoyagala” feat Rabadaba, “goin on” alongside Jose Chameleone, “dirty shame” with Batabazi, Wind it up ft Fidempa and Navio and now her recent “for all time” alongside Sammie from Eritrea have all hit charts in the entertainment circles.
Recorded by Paddyman, the song was recorded in “Eritrean, English and Lugbara with a simple video in one location, full of color and tremendous camera angles and shot by Centrix.

Jackie Chandiru shoots Video with Python
Looks like artists are taking videos to another level. Blu 3 member Jackie Chandiru shoot recently shot a video to her latest track “Overdose” to with a live Python. The snake was apparently got from the Uganda Reptile Centre in Entebbe. This proves that the level of creativity in Artists has increased and shows the distance artists are willing to go for their music. But this a question: What animal is next to feature in a video. Guess lets wait and see.

Blu*3 to re-unite after years of separation by 1544c Ssejjombwe. (+256 782233273)
Soon, we are going to see the reunion of breakaway trio Jackie Chandiru, Lillian Mbabazi and Cinderella Sanyu on a big project that will also see them taking international and regional tours. Steve Jean who was the main man behind the formation of Blu 3 in 2003 during the Coca Cola pop stars talent search is also behind the reunion. Steve has neither confirmed nor denied the reunion but our source reveals that the producer is so excited about the project.
The group started disbanding in 2007 when Cindy was expelled after she refused to end her trip to Italy prematurely and has ever since then been striding as a solo artist. With singles “Ayokya yokya”, “one and only”, “total satisfaction” and “Party” among others, Cindy has established herself as one of the most sought after artists in Uganda.
Cindy was later replaced by Mya. In 2008, Blu 3 took on Maternity leave thus leading to the girls venturing into solo projects. Jackie she quickly stood out after the success of “Going on”, a collabo she did with Chameleon, “Agassi”, “overdose” and “Gold digger” to mention but a few. Jackie has been on the radar as one of the best female artists for the last two years and her “Agassi” video was voted the best video in last year’s PAM Awards. Lillian released “Vitamin” with Weasel, “Kawa”, “Kankutwale” and her recent “I’m in danger”. Lillian is mainly known for her live performances with her band sundowners. Mya has released songs like Baibe, say No and her latest “Shankolo”
